SBSEG 2025 TEST OF TIME AWARD
PRESENTATION
The SBSeg 2025 Test of Time Award aims to recognize and honor papers in the field of information and computer systems security that were published nationally by researchers from the Brazilian Cybersecurity community, and that have stood the test of time – demonstrating themselves to be relevant and visionary contributions.
Papers published 10 (ten) years ago or more will be considered eligible.
In the selection process, the Committee will consider the broader impact of the paper on the academic, industrial, governmental, and general Brazilian society.
The award will be announced during SBSeg 2025.
NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
Nominations must be submitted via JEMS3: https://jems3.sbc.org.br/sbseg2025-test-of-time-award
Each nomination must include:
- A PDF document (maximum two pages) containing:
- Title and abstract of the paper (as originally published)
- Full list of authors (as originally published)
- Publication venue and year
- Detailed justification for the nomination
- Full name and institutional affiliation of the nominators
- The PDF of the original published paper
The justification must be based on objective and measurable arguments. Examples include:
- Number of citations (measured by Google Scholar, Scopus, etc.) received by the paper itself
- Number of citations (measured by Google Scholar, Scopus, etc.) received by an international paper that is clearly a follow-up of the nominated paper, provided that both share the same set of co-authors
- Other arguments demonstrating the sustained importance of the paper over the years since its publication (with open references on recognized and publicly accessible platforms)
Not accepted:
- Nominations of papers authored or co-authored by members of the Selection Committee
IMPORTANT DATES
Nomination deadline: August 25, 2025
ELIGIBILITY
Only papers published 10 (ten) years ago or more in national venues are eligible for nomination. For the 2025 edition, only papers published in 2015 or earlier will be considered.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
The award will recognize papers published in Brazil and that have had a lasting and significant impact on the field of Cybersecurity, both in Brazil and internationally.
The Selection Committee may, at its discretion, consider additional papers not formally nominated. Any exceptional cases will be resolved by the Committee.
NUMBER OF AWARDED PAPERS
Only one paper will be awarded, but the Committee reserves the right to award more or fewer papers depending on the quality and quantity of nominations received.
The awarded paper(s) will be announced during the SBSeg 2025 Award Dinner, and the authors will be notified via email and receive a PDF certificate of recognition.
